In the past, creating music involved complex comprehensions of reading, writing, and performing music on instruments that cost hundreds or thousands of dollars. Today, instruments from all over the world are at the touch of a finger with GarageBand on the iPad. Creating meaningful music and experiences is as easy as having the right idea and the right guidance! This program is designed for middle school students who have an interest in creating music of all kinds. Primary areas of focus include:

  1. Instrument Diversity: Students will develop an ear for where instruments fit together and the qualities they possess, including drums, guitar, bass keys and more.

  2. Percussion and Rhythm: Experiment with different tempos, textures and timbres to create a sense of movement and groove with original tracks.

  3. Notes and Scales: Garage Band has an intuitive system to help keep the user on track and in scale.

  4. Creativity in Different Genres: Adding electricity to our music allows us to push the boundaries of genre and style. Students will create something special and unique with each project!
